The consequences of major studios forcing the industry to abandon photochemical film in favour of going digital are far reaching. It does not only have a devastating impact on production, post-production, distribution and archiving. It also renders projectionists the world over redundant, reducing theirs skills to the pushing of a button, cheating the audience out of the pleasure of watching a film as it was intended to be shown.
